The Bartlett Pear Ripeness Guide features colored panels with die-cut windows through which one can view the skin color of a Bartlett pear when held against the fruit. Ripeness is determined by matching the current shade of green or yellow skin on the pear to that of the Ripeness Guide. Consumers can use the Guide to help them to choose their desired levels of ripeness at the store, and then determine their personal ‘perfect’ level of ripeness for eating their Bartlett pears at home.
The Bartlett Pear Ripeness Guide comes in two formats, one being approximately the size of a credit card for consumers to carry in their wallets. The other is larger and pear-shaped with a metal eyelet that was created for retailers to affix by chain to their Bartlett Pear display for consumer use.
